Position OverviewWe are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to support our Trusts & Estates practice. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in Trusts & Estates law, with a strong background in probate filings and drafting legal documents. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Assist attorneys in all aspects of estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters
- Prepare and file probate documents, including petitions, inventories, accountings, and tax returns
- Draft legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
- Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, and case law relevant to Trusts & Estates matters
- Manage client communications and maintain client files, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurately recorded
- Coordinate with financial institutions, government agencies, and other relevant parties to gather necessary information and documentation
- Assist in the preparation of estate and gift tax returns
- Manage deadlines and calendar important dates related to probate proceedings and trust administration
- Prepare correspondence to clients, beneficiaries, and other involved parties
- Organize and maintain digital and physical client files, ensuring compliance with firm policies and legal requirements
- Assist in client meetings and provide support during the estate planning process
- Perform asset valuations and prepare asset inventories for estates and trusts
- Coordinate with other departments within the firm to ensure smooth case management
- Stay current with changes in Trusts & Estates law and update firm templates and procedures accordingly
- Mentor and train junior paralegals and support staff as needed
