PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of the Senior Paralegal is to assist in-house counsel with handling eviction and collection litigation for Simon Property Group.  Simon is a global leader in retail real estate and has been recognized several times as Fortune's Most Admired Real Estate Company.  The ideal candidate is a highly motivated paralegal, preferably with litigation experience, who will enjoy the opportunity to work with a dynamic legal team in our downtown Indianapolis headquarters.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting Simon's in-house counsel with managing eviction and collection litigation involving Simon's retail properties throughout the nation.
  • Setting up and maintaining files in a web-based matter tracking database with clear/concise entries for timely follow-up to ensure accurate case status and reporting.
  • Investigating and researching factual and legal issues pertaining to cases.
  • Responding to inquiries from Simon personnel and outside counsel.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents as necessary for a case.
  • Gathering information and documents responsive to discovery requests in litigated matters.
  • Preparing case-related memoranda and correspondence.
  • Assisting in settlement negotiations for case resolution.
  • Reviewing and approving legal fee invoices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor's degree or equivalent paralegal experience required
  • 5+ years’ paralegal experience preferred
  • Litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and e-discovery software such as Relativity
  • Must possess strong organizational, writing, and communication skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Demonstrate an ability to multitask effectively, adhere to deadlines, and be able to work collaboratively within a team as well as autonomously.
