LITIGATION LEGAL ASSISTANT
Woods Aitken LLP is seeking a collaborative, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team in either our Lincoln or Omaha office. This full-time position supports a highly skilled group of legal professionals dedicated to helping clients achieve long-term success by identifying challenges, minimizing risk, and realizing opportunities. Candidates with prior legal experience and/or certification are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
The Litigation Legal Assistant will provide direct support to attorneys and clients, including:
- Drafting, proofreading, and formatting correspondence, pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents
- Managing case files, including electronic filing in state and federal courts
- Maintaining calendars, deadlines, and court schedules
- Assisting with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness coordination, and hearing notebooks
- Communicating professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Coordinating travel, meetings, and conference calls
- Handling administrative tasks such as billing, time entry, and expense reporting
- Collaborating with other assistants, paralegals, and attorneys to ensure seamless case management
Qualifications
- 2+ years of litigation support experience preferred (law firm or corporate legal setting)
- Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and e-filing systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Professional demeanor, discretion, and commitment to client service
