Job Description

The Paralegal will handle a range of real estate, contract, corporate and compliance responsibilities under the direction of Company legal counsel. We are one of the largest owner-operators of single-family homes and growing fast. We are looking for a service-oriented professional who will share our mission: to go above and beyond with our time, care, and service so that lives and communities are enriched.

Real Estate and Contract Support

  • Assist counsel with all aspects of residential real estate closings start to finish, preferably bulk transactions involving portfolios of properties closing simultaneously
  • Support the real estate aspects of securitizations and M&A transactions
  • Monitor and update the status of real estate and broker licensing compliance
  • Support contract review process, including documenting revisions and follow-up actions, organizing and circulating comments to appropriate parties, monitoring deadlines, and escalating issues as needed
  • Track status of contract documents from initial negotiations through to executed agreements
  • Coordinate execution of approved documents and distribute documents both internally and externally

Corporate, Compliance and Legal Department Support

  • Assist with managing and maintaining legal databases and trackers for the Company’s contracts, compliance programs, standard contracts, standard lease documents, office leases, legal forms, policies and procedures
  • Serves as a point of contact for legal and compliance questions
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, and legal policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with others as needed to assist with entity formations, draft minutes and resolutions
  • Assist with managing and maintaining the Department's electronic file database and website
  • Analyze data, generate reports, conduct research and perform special projects under the direction of legal counsel
  • Perform further duties as assigned based on experience, and occasional clerical duties related to responsibilities, such as scheduling closings and conference calls to facilitate contract negotiations and to manage transaction progress

Qualifications:

  • An experienced real estate paralegal professional; corporate, compliance and/or contract paralegal experience are desirable plusses
  • Familiarity with property management and real estate brokerage formation/licensing
  • Notary Public helpful, but not required

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree  
  • 5+ years residential real estate industry experience, preferably also with corporate, compliance and/or commercial contract experience
  • Full familiarity with purchase and sale agreement documentation, closing documents, residential leases, amendments, assignments, terminations, easements, access agreements, confidentiality agreements, estoppel certificates, settlement statements, curing title issues, recording and funding
  • Must be completely familiar with all aspects of residential real estate closings, including preparation of all closing and ancillary documentation for purchases and sales
  • Must be experienced in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and be able to quickly learn new software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and to prioritize and timely complete tasks

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.
