Position Summary:
The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office is dedicated to safeguarding the public interest and ensuring justice through the enforcement of state laws. The Organized Retail Crime Unit (ORCU) focuses on investigating and prosecuting large-scale retail theft, organized theft rings, and related crimes that harm businesses, consumers, and communities in Oklahoma. The Criminal Analyst will provide critical investigative support to the Organized Retail Crime Unit. This role involves analyzing complex criminal patterns, collecting and interpreting data, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies to combat organized retail crime effectively.
Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of criminal activities, focusing on organized retail crime trends and networks.
- Compile and evaluate intelligence from various sources, including law enforcement databases, retail partners, and surveillance reports.
- Develop actionable intelligence products, including reports, charts, and presentations, to support investigative and prosecutorial efforts in ORC cases.
- Assist in the preparation of case files and provide support to prosecutors and investigators during trials.
- Monitor regional and national organized retail crime trends to identify emerging patterns.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as private sector stakeholders to gather intelligence and share actionable insights.
- Manage and maintain secure databases and records related to active investigations.
- Participate in task force meetings and briefings to provide updates and share intelligence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Data Analytics, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education.
- At least two years of experience in criminal intelligence, data analysis, or a similar field.
- Proficiency in using investigative tools, law enforcement databases (e.g., NCIC, NDEX, i2 Analyst Notebook, PenLink PLX, Microsoft Office Tools), and analytical software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Knowledge of Oklahoma criminal statutes and retail crime trends is a plus.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Demonstrated ability to identify criminal patterns and synthesize data into actionable intelligence.
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency task forces or public-private partnerships.
- Commitment to public service and the mission of the Attorney General’s Office.
