Primary Function:
The primary function of this position is to support the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force by working closely with Assistant State's Attorneys, Investigators, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and other task force partners, by reviewing and assigning CyberTips to the appropriate law enforcement partner, to help ensure a timely and accurate response, so that every tip is acted on appropriately, efficiently, and in compliance with investigative protocols.
Physical Requirements:
Light Work: The position requires ability to sit for extended periods, frequent use of computers/screens; may require occasional walking, standing, lifting/carrying objects up to 20 lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, and assign CyberTips from NCMEC and other electronic referrals related to online child exploitation, ensuring they are routed to the appropriate law enforcement partners quickly and accurately.
- Communicate regularly with NCMEC, ASAs, investigators, and affiliated ICAC task force members to confirm receipt of tips, clarify information, and track case status.
- Monitor case progress and follow up with partner agencies to ensure tips are acted upon in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of tips, assignments, and outcomes in internal databases to support investigative tracking and reporting.
- Prepare reports and summaries for internal stakeholders, partner agencies, and grant reporting requirements, highlighting trends, volume of tips, and case outcomes.
- Attend off-site meetings when necessary
- Identify patterns or threats within incoming tips that may require urgent escalation or coordinated action across multiple agencies.
- Support collaboration and training by helping partner agencies understand tip-handling procedures and database tools.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality, privacy, and evidence handling protocols.
- Stay informed about emerging online child exploitation trends, investigative tools, and ICAC task force best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- The candidate must be organized with high attention to detail, while having the ability to multi-task.
- The candidate must have experience with data management/analysis.
- Knowledge of relational databases, data models, and data schema design.
- Comfortable working in agile environments.
Preferred:
- Experience with digital investigations, forensic data, service provider preservation / subpoena requests.
- Familiarity with ICAC Task Force functioning, CyberTip system, NCMEC; or prior work in law enforcement or criminal justice.
- Understanding of online child exploitation issues, internet technologies, social media, and cyber investigations.
