Role Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Attorney to join their team. The work environment is hybrid (90% remote) with some travel required for appearances, hearings, depositions, and mandatory office meetings. Our Attorneys manage the legal defense of Workers' Compensation cases from inception to final resolution, including all aspects of discovery and litigation. The attorneys work closely with insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators.

Core Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of California workers' compensation defense matters from assignment through resolution
- Apply substantive knowledge of CA Labor Code, WCAB procedure, and case law to develop defense strategies and advise clients
- Attend depositions, mandatory settlement conferences, hearings, and other litigation proceedings
- Advise clients on utilization review decisions, independent medical review processes, and treatment disputes
- Develop litigation strategies and evaluate exposure and settlement opportunities
- Communicate regularly with insurance carriers, employers, and third-party administrators regarding case status and recommendations
- Prepare for and participate in trials and expedited hearings as necessary
- Negotiate settlements and resolve disputes in a cost-effective manner
- Ability to manage an independent caseload with minimal supervision
- Maintain accurate case files and comply with all reporting requirements and deadlines
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure exceptional client service
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of workers' compensation defense, insurance defense, or related legal experience preferred
- Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degree
- Member, State Bar of California
- Superior research, analytical, and negotiating ability
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Commitment to proactive case management
Compensation:
The projected annual salary is estimated at $140,000-220,000 per year, based on years of demonstrated experience, representing the span of the range. The actual compensation will be formulated by the client and may vary based on factors that include, but are not limited to, the position offered, work experience, education, training, and commensurate experience.
