The Corporate Counsel will oversee all legal matters for the company and act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership. This role requires a practical business mindset, strong judgment, and the ability to balance legal risk with operational goals. You will work closely with leadership across departments including but not limited to Operations, Finance, Sales, Project Management, HR, and Technology. 

What You’ll Be Doing:

Legal & Regulatory Leadership 

• Serve as the company’s primary legal advisor on corporate, regulatory, and operational matters 

• Manage regulatory compliance across automotive, insurance, and finance sectors, including multi-state insurance licensing oversight 

• Oversee SERFF filings (state insurance form filing platform) 

• Oversee F&I Sentinel filings for lender-required compliance reviews 

• Advise leadership on risk management and corporate governance 

• Monitor regulatory changes impacting our industry and F&I products. 

• Collaborate closely with our underwriter/insurer on product compliance and regulatory interpretations 

Contracts 

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts 

• Develop internal legal processes and improve contract workflows 

 Compliance Team Leadership 

• Lead and mentor a compliance team, including one junior attorney 

• Provide day-to-day legal and regulatory guidance ensuring accuracy in filings, licensing renewals, product compliance reviews, and state submissions. 

• Ensure all products remain compliant across jurisdictions 

 Operational Support 

• Support employment and HR matters, including policies and disputes 

• Advise on corporate initiatives, strategic projects, and internal governance matters. 

 Counsel and Litigation Management 

• Lead the resolution of legal disputes, including negotiating with customers’ attorneys, representing the company in arbitration, and occasionally defending the company in court or managing outside litigation counsel 
• Support corporate transactions, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives as they arise. 

What You’ll Need for the Position:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school 

• Active bar license in Utah or ability to obtain Utah licensure 

• 5-10+ years of legal experience (law firm or in-house) 

• Experience with with commercial contracts and multi-state regulatory compliance 

• Strong business judgment and ability to work cross-functionally 

• Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills 

• Ability to operate in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment 

 Preferred 

• In-house experience 

• Experience in automotive, finance, insurance, or regulated industries 

• Familiarity with dealer networks, administrators, lenders or F&I distribution channels
