ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate intern to join our Legal and Compliance team during a transformative period of growth. This internship offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency and derivatives markets while supporting the establishment of a new cryptocurrency trading business and Futures Commission Merchant (FCM). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, a keen interest in fintech regulation and digital assets, and eagerness to contribute to building compliant operational frameworks in emerging financial sectors. 

 

To be considered, you must be able to commit to a 10-week hybrid internship and work 40 hours per week during our summer program   

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Regulatory Research & Analysis 

    • Conduct comprehensive legal and regulatory research on cryptocurrency trading, digital asset compliance, and FCM registration requirements under CFTC regulations 

    • Research and analyze federal and state regulatory frameworks governing virtual currency businesses, including FinCEN requirements, state money transmitter licenses, and CFTC derivatives rules 

    • Monitor and summarize regulatory developments, enforcement actions, and guidance from key regulators including the CFTC, SEC, FinCEN, and state banking departments 

    Compliance Program Development 

    • Assist in developing and documenting core compliance policies and procedures for the cryptocurrency trading business, including AML/KYC programs, transaction monitoring protocols, and customer due diligence procedures 

    • Support the creation of FCM-specific compliance frameworks covering customer account documentation, segregation requirements, risk disclosure statements, and regulatory reporting obligations 

    • Help draft and revise internal policies addressing conflicts of interest, market manipulation prevention, cybersecurity standards, and consumer protection requirements 

    • Contribute to the development of training materials and compliance manuals for operational staff 

    Licensing & Registration Support 

    • Assist with FCM registration applications and ongoing compliance with CFTC and NFA membership requirements 

    • Support preparation of state money transmitter license applications and related regulatory filings 

    • Help maintain organized documentation systems for licensing applications, regulatory correspondence, and compliance records 

    • Track application deadlines, renewal requirements, and regulatory filing obligations 

    Contract Review & Documentation 

    • Review and assist in drafting customer agreements, terms of service, risk disclosures, and privacy policies for cryptocurrency trading platforms 

    Administrative & Project Support 

    • Maintain organized filing systems for regulatory documents, legal research, and compliance records 

    • Create and update compliance calendars tracking key regulatory deadlines and reporting obligations 

    • Assist with special projects related to product launches, regulatory examinations, or compliance audits 

    • Provide general administrative support to the Chief Legal Officer and legal team as needed 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Senior standing, May 2027 graduate 

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with experience in data analysis. 

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. 

  • General interest in Fintech.  

 

Work Environment: 

  • This internship operates in an office environment. 

  • This internship operates on a hybrid schedule in Dallas, TX.

 

Salary: 

  • $25 per hour.
