
Job Description
A California workers’ compensation defense law firm, is seeking to hire a Managing Attorney for their San Francisco office. The individual will be responsible for ensuring quality representation of employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in the defense of workers' compensation claims and will supervise a legal team that includes staff attorneys and legal assistants, while maintaining a caseload.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel to clients on various matters including personal injury, estate planning, and workers' compensation.
- Conduct thorough research utilizing tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation.
- Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.
- Draft legal documents including contracts, wills, and pleadings.
- Represent clients in court proceedings and administrative hearings.
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations, particularly tribal law regulations.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and legal staff within the law office to ensure comprehensive client representation.
Requirements
- A current California Bar membership in good standing
- Excellent research, communication, and organizational skills, with an ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
- Strong Marketing and Business development experience
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with all levels of the organization
- Ability to lead and motivate the team to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and achieve goals
- Previous management and leadership experience is a plus
- Experience with MerusCase Management a plus
- 6+ years of Workman’s Compensation Defense
- 225 + billable hours
- 1 hour twenty minutes away from San Francisco max
- Must have experience managing other attorneys and support staff.
- Must reside within an hour from San Francisco.
