SAIC is looking for a Vice President of Legal to support our Civilian Business Group.

 

In this role, you will leverage your experience in government and commercial contracting matters to serve as a trusted legal advisor and strategic partner for SAIC’s Civilian Business Group.

 

The position will report to the Deputy General Counsel of Operations and work as an integrated member of the Civilian Business Group leadership team.  The position will also work closely with various members of the legal, contracts, ethics and compliance, procurement, internal audit, and finance departments, as well as various line organization functions and personnel.

 

Advise on all aspects of government and commercial contract law formation and performance. 

 

Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to drive planning for complex government and commercial contracts, including early engagement with business owners to structure strategies, evaluate risks, and recommend approaches.

 

Draft, negotiate, and interpret contracts with the Civilian Business Group customers, partners, and vendors, including master service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, subcontract agreements, software license agreements, and business associate agreements.

 

Handle, oversee and manage bid protests, claims, disputes, and litigation, including managing outside counsel as necessary.

 

Manage, conduct and/or assist with various internal and external legal investigations.

 

Interact with other attorneys and internal clients on various legal counseling activities.

 

Proactively anticipate and respond to requests for legal advice from business management.

 

A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with at least one U.S. state bar membership.

 

A minimum of 10 years of directly transferable experience on U.S. Government contract and commercial contract matters, litigation, and/or investigation response required.

 

Possess in-depth knowledge of the FAR/DFARS as well as compliance requirements unique to contracting with the U.S. Government.

 

Experienced in advising on proposal development, negotiations, contract performance, protests, and dispute resolution in connection with government, international and commercial programs.

 

Demonstrated willingness to work within unfamiliar legal frameworks and lean into creative, business-oriented problem solving.

 

Experience in international business operations and activities, contracting and regulatory compliance matters, including ITAR, EAR, FCPA, and trade compliance regulations; federal government cyber security requirements, joint ventures, and federal government cost accounting are a plus.

Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate with all levels of management and Government agency personnel.

 

Demonstrated business acumen and ability to interact with a growth-focused, high-expectation leadership team.

 

Possess an ability to prioritize and work successfully in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.

 

Possess superior communication and writing skills.

 

Strong negotiation and drafting skills.

 

Ability to perform sophisticated legal analysis, and to develop timely and creative solutions to legal and business issues.
