
Supreme Court Reporter, Washington, D.C.
The Wall Street Journal is seeking a senior legal reporter to cover the U.S. Supreme Court.
The court’s work touches on some of the most central issues in American life. We are looking for someone who can cover not only the momentous cases on its docket, but also provide readers with broad insight into the court’s operations and what its actions mean for the functioning of government and society.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to bring these issues to life with extensive reporting and authoritative analysis. This position requires a deep understanding of how the court functions and established source relationships with lawyers, public-interest groups and government officials who are at the center of the action.
You will:
Deliver agenda-setting journalism.
Conceptualize and deliver deeply reported stories.
Work with colleagues around the country and the world in a 24-hour-a-day global newsroom.
You have:
At least five years of reporting experience dominating a highly competitive beat.
Considerable familiarity with complex legal topics and the ability to translate them for a general audience
Deadline skills to report and write clearly under pressure.
Proven ability to develop sources and write with authority.
A track record of tackling ambitious projects and finding original approaches to coverage.
