Indiana Legal Services, Inc. (ILS)
Position: Full Time Paralegal – ILS Consumer Advocacy Project, Indianapolis
Organizational information: Indiana Legal Services, Inc. (ILS) is a statewide, not-for-profit organization that provides free legal services to eligible clients in civil cases through 8 branch offices. ILS is funded by the Legal Services Corporation, United Ways, Area Agencies on Aging, and approximately 20 other funding sources.
Position Description: This position is a paralegal/legal support position for the Consumer Advocacy Project. The Consumer Advocacy Project is a special partnership with Center for Working Families community centers in the Indianapolis area, whose aim is to address legal barriers of individuals receiving financial coaching from the centers to increase their financial stability.
The paralegal will assist in serving the project’s clients and furthering the partnership, including but not limited to the following tasks: client intake, drafting pleadings and correspondence, case handling under attorney supervision, assisting in the preparation of annual reports for the project and ongoing collaboration with the project partners.
Qualifications:
- Dedicated to the mission of Indiana Legal Services
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and able to quickly learn new software.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Legal research and customer service skills are preferred.
- Interest in working with low income individuals to assist with their legal needs
