Assistant Commonwealth Attorney I: $73,641 +/-
Under general supervision, the Assistant Commonwealth Attorney I performs professional work representing the Commonwealth in court. Prepares and prosecutes cases primarily in all local trial courts. Generally, works independently with supervision as needed. Work consists of case law research, preparation of legal briefs and motions, interviewing and preparing witnesses, and providing legal advice and expertise to law enforcement and other agencies during investigations. Work involves considerable public contact. Employee must exercise independent judgment, initiative, tact and courtesy in various phases of work. Reports to the Commonwealth’s Attorney.Assistant Commonwealth Attorney II: $82,462 +/-
Under general supervision, the Assistant Commonwealth Attorney II performs professional work representing the Commonwealth in court. Prepares and prosecutes cases in all courts, including complex felony cases. Work consists of case law research, preparation of legal briefs and motions, interviewing and preparing witnesses, and providing legal advice and expertise to law enforcement and other agencies during investigations. Conducts special investigations, as necessary. Work involves considerable public contact. Employee must exercise independent judgment, initiative, tact, and courtesy in various phases of work. - Minimum Qualifications at the Assistant Commonwealth Attorney I level. Applicant must:
- Possess a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited school of law.
- Have a minimum of six months to three (3) years of legal experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Minimum Qualifications at the Assistant Commonwealth Attorney II level. Applicant must:- Possess a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited school of law.
- Have a minimum of three (3) years of practice as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney or equivalent experience.
