Purpose of the Role
Mandelbaum Barrett PC is seeking a Partner‑level Matrimonial and Family Law Attorney to join and expand our Connecticut practice in our Greenwich office, with an expectation of collaboration across the firm’s offices. We are seeking an experienced practitioner with an established portable book of business and a strong reputation within the family and matrimonial law community.
Our Family and Matrimonial Law Practice is committed to providing sophisticated, thoughtful representation in emotionally complex matters, combining professionalism, sound judgment, and strategic advocacy. This role offers meaningful opportunity for practice growth and leadership within the firm.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in sophisticated matrimonial and family law matters, including contested and uncontested divorces, custody and parenting time disputes, support issues, and post‑judgment matters.
- Handle complex financial and high‑net‑worth divorce matters, including equitable distribution, alimony, and child support.
- Draft and negotiate prenuptial, postnuptial, and cohabitation agreements.
- Serve as lead counsel in negotiated resolutions, mediations, and contested litigation, including trial and appellate matters when necessary.
- Maintain and grow a portable book of business while developing new client relationships and referral networks.
- Collaborate with related practice groups—including Trusts & Estates, Tax, Criminal, Real Estate, and Corporate—to provide holistic representation for clients.
- Meet billable expectations and contribute to practice group growth and firm initiatives.
- Participate in mentoring junior attorneys, business development, and firm leadership activities.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Connecticut Bar and in good standing (New York admission a plus).
- 7+ years of concentrated experience in matrimonial and family law.
- Demonstrated portable book of business and collected originations.
- Strong professional reputation for excellence, discretion, and client advocacy.
- Excellent courtroom presence, negotiation skills, and written and verbal communication abilities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary (Draw): $225,000–$300,000 annually, based on experience, portable book of business, and anticipated contribution. The draw structure and terms (including recoverability) will be discussed in detail during the interview process.
- Merit‑Based Rewards: Compensation is performance‑driven and includes origination credit, collections‑based incentives, and other partner compensation opportunities. Growth, productivity, and client impact directly influence total earnings.
