Attorney – Associate General Counsel

We are seeking an experienced Attorney / Associate General Counsel to support healthcare regulation and licensing matters across Tennessee’s rural communities. The attorney will report to a Deputy General Counsel and handle disciplinary cases involving healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities- Represent the department in administrative and healthcare licensing cases.
- Review complaints and investigations involving healthcare licensees.
- Work closely with investigators and licensing board consultants.
- Handle litigation, including discovery, motions, hearings, and trials.
- Manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize multiple matters effectively.
- Negotiate resolutions with licensees when appropriate.
- Assist with legislative projects and bill analysis as assigned.
- Provide legal advice and support on special projects.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
- Active Tennessee Bar license in good standing required.
- At least 1 year of relevant legal experience preferred.
- Litigation experience with trial experience strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize a large caseload.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to work in the Nashville office weekly.

This is a contract position and is not eligible for state employee benefits. The selected candidate will be responsible for obtaining their own professional liability insurance.
