Job Description
Position Summary The Revenue Cycle Financial Counselor assists customers, staff, and providers with the resolution of issues as they pertain to account balances and payments. This role has strong interpersonal customer service communication skills and attention to detail. Key Duties and Responsibilities The key duties and responsibilities of the Revenue Cycle Financial Counselor include, but are not limited to: Verification of coverage and out of pocket amounts for patient accounts Obtains necessary referrals, authorization and pre-certification as needed Provides estimates for services to patients, physician offices, and payers as requested Liaison between business office and patients, staff, and providers to resolve issues Point of contact for patients regarding payments and other related financial matters pertaining to services Updates patient accounts and collections relevant patient data Makes payment arrangements for outstanding balances Other duties as assigned Education/Experience Minimum 3 years billing experience Experience in financial counseling Demonstrated patient relations experience Working experience navigating EHR’s to abstract documentation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong analytical skills and enjoy problem solving Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated team player able to multi-task and prioritize Excellent organization and time management skills Proficiency in computers especially experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Work Environment/Physical Demands The work environment/physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
