About the role
As In-House Legal Counsel, you’ll be the company’s legal compass—working side by side with senior leadership and business units to reduce risk, ensure compliance, and handle a broad range of legal matters. You’ll draft and negotiate critical contracts, manage regulatory issues, oversee disputes, and advise on everything from employment law to M&A.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal advice across the business—contracts, compliance, employment, IP, corporate governance, and more.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements to protect the company’s interests.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and ensure the company remains compliant.
- Develop and enforce internal legal policies and risk mitigation strategies.
- Support business units with practical, solutions-focused legal guidance.
- Oversee disputes, manage external counsel, and support litigation strategy when necessary.Play a key role in corporate transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, and restructuring.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the North Carolina State Bar.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience—ideally a mix of in-house and firm-side, with exposure to corporate, regulatory and employment matters.
- A strategic thinker who can also execute at a high level.
- Strong communicator and clear writer—able to explain complex legal issues in plain language.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Bonus: Prior military service or familiarity with the defense/security sector.
