Job Description
Our client, a growing Austin area law firm, is looking to hire an experienced Litigation Paralegal. The Paralegal will take a substantive role in managing all phases of litigation matters filed in both state and federal courts. The Paralegal will work closely with attorneys to provide assistance with preparation of pleadings, court filings, discovery, and document productions. The Paralegal will keep the attorneys aware of and prepared for approaching deadlines and due dates.
Qualifications
- Draft a wide variety of legal documents
- Organize and manage case documents and document databases
- Prepare and maintain witness, discovery, and evidentiary materials
- Assist attorneys with preparation for depositions, witness interviews, expert meetings, court hearings, mediation and trial
- Knowledgeable with state and federal procedural court rules, proper docketing procedure, e-filing process and procedure, and e-discovery rules and process
- Perform a wide variety of legal research and data compilation, with little or no supervision
- Assist team with calendaring of litigation deadlines and due dates
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and court personnel
Requirements
- 5+ years of paralegal experience; experience in construction litigation is a plus
- 4+ years of solid trial experience is required
- Paralegal certification and/or degree from accredited college or university is preferred
- Ability to prioritize projects
- Proficient in all Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Westlaw and document management software
