Job Description

The Office of the Inspector General is one of the best places to work in the Department of Justice and is one of the premier inspector general offices in federal government. The OIG's IT Division offers advanced and entry-level opportunities to Software Application Developers, Cloud and Network Engineers, Security Specialists, Project Managers and Customer Support Technicians. This position is to fill a position with the IT Operations team.

Duties

If you are selected as a Supervisory Information Technology Project Manager, your responsibilities would include, but would not be limited to:

  • Leading and facilitating the end-to-end business and functional requirements gathering process to define and validate complex information system needs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Designing detailed project schedules, task lists, and milestone timelines using project management tools and techniques to ensure the proper sequencing of activities, optimal use of resources, and on-time delivery.
  • Collaborating with senior leadership, stakeholders, and technical experts across DOJ to ensure that enterprise architecture, system design, and implementation comply with applicable regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Overseeing and managing the execution of complex IT projects by coordinating and aligning all technical activities with cross-functional technical teams, including analysts, developers, quality assurance (QA) personnel, and system engineers.
  • Monitoring and adjusting project schedules, ensuring that milestones are met with high-quality deliverables that comply with technical standards, stakeholder expectations, and agency requirements.
  • Conducting regular in-progress reviews, fosters collaboration with stakeholders, and ensures transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Engaging stakeholders to validate that information system requirements are accurately captured, functional specifications are integrated into solution designs, and business practices are considered or optimized.
  • Overseeing and monitors the project budget, ensuring financial accountability and cost control.
  • Conducting regular performance evaluations, offering constructive feedback and guidance on both technical and administrative matters to support employee growth and organizational success.
  • Developing and implements performance standards aligned with organizational goals, and continuously seeks opportunities to enhance work quality, productivity, and service delivery.
  • Providing expert-level advice and strategic recommendations on complex and mission-critical IT project matters, contributing to informed decision-making at the leadership level.
  • Driving innovation and service excellence by identifying improvement opportunities, implementing best practices, and benchmarking against industry standards.
  • Leading strategic planning initiatives, aligns program objectives with broader ITD goals, and manages project timelines, resources, risks, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful delivery and long-term sustainability of the Mobile Device Program.

Salary
  • $143,913 - $187,093/year

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level obtained in the public or private sector. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.) Examples of specialized experience include such duties as:
  1. Supervising IT professionals by assigning and reviewing work, establishing performance expectations, evaluating performance, developing employees, and addressing performance issues.
  2. Providing leadership and oversight for IT projects and programs throughout implementation lifecycle, ensuring alignment with missing requirements, established schedules, available sources, and defined performance objectives.
  3. Managing IT project teams by establishing priorities, assigning work, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and coordinating with stakeholders.
  4. Developing IT project plans, governance processes, risk management strategies, and performance measures to support successful project delivery.
  5. Providing technical leadership and expertise on IT projects; evaluating and recommending the adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering and optimizing IT services.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade level (or equivalent).
