The Dougherty County State Court has a vacancy for a Staff Attorney.
- Essential Tasks
Employee in this position is responsible for, but not limited to: providing assistance to the Court Judges in the trials of civil and criminal cases; performing extensive research, review and analysis on federal and state laws for interpretation; making recommendations to the Judge; compiling drafts on a myriad of legal documents including orders and briefs for the Judge’s consideration; maintaining a system of review for all motions; maintain the court’s law library and legal software; preparing jury instructions for trial utilizing proposed charges, recommendations from attorneys and other sources; Represents the Court Judge at various meetings and presentations; and providing information to attorneys, employees and the public relating to court procedures and legal processes.
- Minimum Qualification
Requires a Juris Doctorate Degree with two (2) years of legal course work and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must be eligible to take the Georgia State Bar Exam, and Georgia State Bar certification must be completed within one (1) year of appointment.
