Vice President, Compliance Counsel

Position Summary
Provide legal advice and counsel in support of our growing insurance operations with an emphasis on compliance and regulatory matters. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with excellent communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
•    Create, draft, administer, and review systems of rules, policies, controls and resolutions to ensure business processes comply with internal policies, procedures, laws, and other regulations.
•    Investigate and assess controls and design and execute reviews and tests to ensure internal and legal compliance, identify potential risks and control gaps, maintain a robust compliance program, mitigate organizational regulatory risk, and provide accurate and actionable recommendations.
•    Conduct legal research regarding state and federal insurance laws and regulations.
•    Provide advice on issues relating to insurance producers and third-party administrators, including compliance with statutory requirements and best practices for outsourced insurer responsibilities.
•    Assist in monitoring department of insurance actions (e.g., penalties, fines, bulletins, and department of insurance advisories) and apprise the appropriate internal business and support departments to ensure compliance.
•    Engage in issue spotting, risk assessment, and problem solving on a daily basis.
•    Draft and review agreements appropriate to a variety of arrangements with producers and third parties.

Required Skills and Abilities
•    Capability to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, extract data from various sources, analyze data to derive insights, compile data from various sources, and meaningfully interpret and present the findings clearly and concisely through reports, dashboards, or presentations to support making effective decisions.
•    Demonstrated understanding of the insurance regulatory environment.
•    Experience interfacing effectively with all levels of management and with both internal and external constituents. 
•    Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
•    Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic developing environment.

Desired Skills and Abilities
•    Compliance Experience.

Education/Experience
•    Law degree from an accredited law school
•    Must be admitted to and a member in good standing of the bar of any US jurisdiction. 
•    Minimum of 10 years of legal and compliance experience.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$201,000 - $271,000/year

• Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
