Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations - San Diego Field Office, Port of Otay Mesa, located in Otay, CA. Duties Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to provide legal support of those executing the law enforcement duties. This position starts at a salary of $143,677.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $186,785.00 (GS-14, Step 10) . GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. In this Supervisory Paralegal Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals serving in the capacity as a principal advisor to, and staff member of the Division Director who oversees CBP's penalties, seizures and liquidated damages programs. Typical work assignments include: Serving as a Fines, Penalties, and Forfeitures (FPF) Officer and performing and directing the administrative and operational work of the FPF program. Directing the day-to-day operations of the FPF service area and overseeing the adjudication of all liquidated damages, penalties, fines, and seizure cases. Ensuring that all cases are legally sufficient to establish the violation and that case files contain accurate, complete, and appropriate supporting documentation. Receiving, examining, and evaluating petitions and supplemental petitions filed by individuals, attorneys, corporations, and other legal entities seeking relief from forfeiture of seizures, penalties, fines, and liquidated damages. Serving as a national subject matter expert in the area of FPF and representing OFO/CBP at interagency meetings, conferences, and related forums. Salary- $143,677 - $186,785/year
