Description

The Intellectual Property Analyst III is responsible for providing global trademark and IP operational services to Rheem Manufacturing Company and its domestic and international subsidiaries, including overseeing Rheem’s IP vendors and tools, managing Rheem’s trademark portfolio of 1500+ registrations, performing trademark clearance searches, and working hand-in-hand with our marketing teams on trademark matters.  The position reports to the Director of IP and works closely with the company’s Marketing and Strategy teams across Rheem’s global business units. 

 

This position will serve Rheem Enterprise Division, located in Atlanta, GA.



Responsibilities
  • Manage IP Vendors: Oversee relationships with IP vendors.
  • Administer IP Tools and Systems: Manage IP management software, databases, and tools, including portfolio database, annuities, searching, and billing platforms.
  • Manage Trademark Portfolio: Oversee the company’s global trademark portfolio, including filings, renewals, and enforcement actions.
  • Conduct Trademark Searches: Perform knock-out trademark searches and deliver risk assessments to our global business units.
  • Coordinate with External Counsel: Liaise with external legal counsel on trademark matters and disputes.
  • Support Marketing & Digital Services Activities: Review and provide guidance to Rheem’s marketing and IT teams on marketing materials, marketing claims, and domain name acquisition and disputes. 
  • Support IP Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing the company’s IP strategy and policies. 
  • Monitor Infringements: Identify and address potential trademark infringements and coordinate enforcement actions.
  • Administer IP Contracts Program: Manage and prepared IP-related contracts including tracking company compliance with patent and trademark license agreements.
  • Optimize Processes: Continuously improve IP management processes and systems.
  • Perform other duties in support of the Intellectual Property team and Law Department as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree. Certification as a paralegal is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in trademark management and IP law, preferably in a multinational company.  At least 2 years of experience preparing and filing documents and forms related to U.S. and International Trademarks required, including familiarity with USPTO systems (TESS, TEAS), WIPO systems (Global Brand Database), and foreign trademark office databases.  At least 2 years of experience with IP management system(s) and electronic billing system(s).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of trademark laws and regulations, both domestic and international.
  • Skills: Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills. Proficiency in IP management software and databases.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of management.

  • In-House Mindset: Demonstrated ability to provide practical, actionable guidance to internal teams based on the business strategy, risk tolerance and goals.
  • Outcome Driven: Approaches projects from a creative, curious and entrepreneurial perspective instead of a task-driven perspective. 
  • Tech-Savvy: Deep familiarity with IP management tools and technologies.
