Provide legal secretarial and administrative support to one or more North Slope Borough attorneys.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and file legal documents and general correspondence including briefs, contracts or court papers
• Ensure accuracy and expediting of processed documents and correspondence.
• Maintain general and legal filing systems, both current and archived. Update and track a variety of electronic and paper files, records, reports, and related documents; maintain file integrity and confidentiality by monitoring and assuring compliance to Department policies and procedures; assure the accuracy of the electronic and paper filing systems.
• Conduct research for attorneys and staff by using a variety of paper, electronic, and online tools and databases.
• Serve as a liaison between agencies, programs, and departments.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, personnel records and Borough information.
• Maintain general and legal filing systems both electronically and physically.
• Interview callers and makes appropriate referrals.
• Maintain and update law library.
• Handle routine mail and distribution within the office.
• Coordinates and schedules travel arrangements, meetings and appointments as requested.
• Prepare and assemble reports; may prepare timesheets for employees and keep daily records of attendance; processes documents and maintains department document logs as required.
• Prepare, track, and process a variety of NSB forms for accounting, inventory and personnel related purposes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
• Skill in using computers and a variety of software applications.
• An understanding of organizing documents electronically.
• Skill in a legal environment.
• Skill in drafting and completing accurate reports, technical documents and correspondence.
• Skill in researching, through the utilization of various papers, electronic and online tools.- Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required
• High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
• Two years of secretarial or clerical work experience;
• Two years of work experience with a PC using common software applications;
• Ability to obtain a valid Alaska Driver’s license that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria within the six-month probationary period.
• Ability to pass through personal-history investigation of the person to determine character traits and habits indicative of moral character.
