Job purpose
The Bankruptcy Docket Clerk is responsible for filing key legal documents required for the Bankruptcy process and monitoring and maintenance of the ongoing Bankruptcy cases. This person will be required to use analytical and critical thinking skills when completing work. Employee will work effectively with a variety of Firm members and clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Document Preparation:
- Prepare legal documents such as responses, objections, and notices.
- Retrieve, review and analyze documents provided by the client to ensure their accuracy in order to prepare the legal documents. Documents to be reviewed may include detailed client screen prints, loan documents, or account statements.
- Research for missing information and documents, and request from client, if needed.
- Edit and revised documents as instructed by Attorney and Client.
Case Management:
- File legal documents with the Bankruptcy Court using the Electronic Case Filing System.
- Maintain calendar of pending hearing dates, times and locations.
- Prepare Attorney for hearings, receive hearing results from Attorney and Court, and communicate results to the client.
- Retrieve, review, and analyze all incoming mail received through the physical mail or through the Court’s Electronic Case Filing system. Make Attorneys and/or clients aware of any situation(s) that may require attention.
- Communicate, negotiate settlement, and otherwise work with opposing counsel on matters requiring you to do so.
File Maintenance:
- Record all forms of communication from and to the Client by updating the Firm’s internal case-management system.
- Image and label documents necessary for document preparation.
Qualifications
To be able to perform required job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 6 months office experience or associate's degree (or higher)
- Intermediate knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 WPM
- Strong data entry skills
- Eligible to work in the United States
Working Conditions
This job operates in a professional temperature controlled office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Reasonable accommodations made for qualified applicants.
Physical Requirements
