Job Summary & Objectives:
This Senior Communications Manager works with the Director of Communications and the Chief Business Development Officers to support Firm-wide business development initiatives through the promotion and enhancement of the profile of the Firm and its continued growth. This role helps to develop and distribute communications surrounding the addition and elevation of its newest partners, as well as the enhancement and growth of related practices and Firm capabilities. The Senior Communications Manager also supports the Firm’s ongoing profile raising and media engagement more broadly, including through promoting newsworthy transactions, litigation matters and thought leadership.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Working with the Director of Communications and Chief Business Development Officers, develops and distributes press releases, website content and other visibility efforts surrounding the addition and elevation of the Firm’s newest partners, as well as in relation to the Firm’s capabilities more broadly
Identifies and evaluates opportunities to position and raise the profile of the practice and partners through media engagement and thought leadership campaigns
Drive media engagement, promoting newsworthy transactions and litigation victories through appropriate media channels
Identify opportunities for media commentary and prepare related background materials
Develop and maintain relationships with key media outlets and contacts and facilitate the development of relationships for key partners
Develop and execute strategy related to bylined articles and other contributed content
Develop website content, including partner biographies and various Business Development communications materials across multiple channels to reflect new awards and other Firm developments
Train and mentor junior team members and broader Business Development Department
Work with Communications team and key stakeholders, including other departments within the Firm, to develop LinkedIn content
Monitor new wires and clipping services; read industry-specific media/publications; keep current with industry knowledge
Working with key Firm stakeholders, assist in the strategy surrounding, and preparation of, award submissions and survey responses for various legal and business publications and provide competitive intelligence analysis related to peer firm engagement
Assist in the oversight and creation of advertising, posters, flyers and other promotional materials, working with Graphic Design team and outside vendors where appropriate
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of Business Development and Communications materials, including brochures, practice area descriptions and other content
Support Business Development projects and other Firm initiatives as needed
Perform various business and operational support functions related to Communications and Business Development strategies, policies, procedures and initiatives
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; Major in Communications, English, Marketing, Advertising or related field preferred
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as attention to detail
Proven ability to develop buy-in, interact well and build professional relationships with key stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service, diplomacy and discretion
Proven ability to anticipate business challenges of partners and senior team members and proactively address needs with self-assuredness and business acumen
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly competitive and demanding environment
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
Ability to assess needs, assign priorities, develop strategies and make recommendations when presented with ambiguous or incomplete information
Strong project management and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and manage multiple projects concurrently, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment
Must be flexible and willing to work additional hours as needed
Excellent research and analytical abilities
Strong problem solving and analytical skills to make sound decisions, escalating as appropriate
Ability to effectively share knowledge and resources with appropriate parties, both internally and externally
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and web-based research
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Prior experience managing marketing communications projects at a local, national and international level, preferably within a law firm
Experience working with media outlets in numerous jurisdictions, including Asia, Europe and Latin America preferred
Experience with website maintenance / content posting

Salary Information
NY and DC Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $240,000 at the time of posting.
The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
