You will serve as the legal bridge between product strategy and regulatory execution, translating business ideas into compliant, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate is licensed in property and casualty (P&C) insurance and thrives in cross-functional settings.

This position is open to candidates located in the United States, with a strong preference for those based in the Seattle area. Seattle based teammembers follow a hybrid schedule, working from our casual, pet-friendly office at least three days per week.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with audits, both internally and of our business partners
  • Partnering with business owners to design and implement initiatives in a fully compliant manner
  • Overseeing governance for U.S.-based insurance companies

What we’re looking for:

  • Five or more years of regulatory and compliance experience in the insurance industry
  • A law degree and/or an insurance producer’s license, a plus
  • Prior experience engaging with insurance regulators
  • Ability to fit into a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to demonstrate sound and practical business judgment, sometimes in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to articulate complex insurance regulatory concepts and risk to leaders across the company and our external business partners

You’ll be a good fit if:

  • You're a strategic thinker who can proactively identify, assess, and clearly articulate regulatory risks to assist the business in moving forward thoughtfully and expeditiously
  • You are knowledgeable of and familiar with insurance regulations and privacy laws
  • You have excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities, you consistently follow through and aren't intimidated by short deadlines
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • You are a standout colleague who can work across the business and with external parties collaboratively and effectively

Compensation:

  • The pay range for this position is $175,000 - $225,000 on a full-time schedule.
  • Along with base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses.
  • We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
