Join our Corporate and Restructuring Team as a Legal Support Specialist located in our Boston office.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Support Specialist to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to our attorneys, ensuring the smooth operation of our legal practice.

This role will be based in our Boston office and is a hybrid position (4 days in office/1 day remote). This schedule is required for effective day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building.

Position Summary

The Legal Support Specialist provides high-level practice and administrative support to a team of attorneys in the Corporate and Restructuring group. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in an organized and efficient manner. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates, edits, proofreads, and processes legal documents such as correspondence, memoranda, closing documents and other practice specific documents.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of assigned attorneys’ practice and clients, including maintaining up-to-date calendar entries and meetings, client contacts, and client matter lists.
  • Submits conflicts checks, opens new client matters, prepares engagement letters, and reviews or edits client billing invoices. 
  • Arranges domestic or international travel arrangements, accommodations, or entertainment arrangements for assigned attorneys.
  • Processes and reconciles expense reports and vendor invoices in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Creates and maintains legal files (both paper & electronic) up-to-date and organized.
  • Collaborates and works with Administrative Support Coordinators, Paralegals and other legal support team members where applicable.
  • Understands firm available resources and leverage most effective resource for desired results.
  • Assists with overflow work and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies:

  • High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation.
  • Recognize confidential, sensitive, and proprietary information and maintain such information as confidential.
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience using computer applications, word processing and spreadsheets
  • Flexibility to work overtime hours as needed to ensure deadlines are met

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • A minimum 5 years of corporate restructuring experience within a law firm or other professional organization is preferred
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, bankruptcy court procedures or agency rules of assigned practice group/dept. (ex. SEC Edgar, Carta, or SimplyAgree) is a plus

Technology

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, as well as document management and other office technologies
  • Experience with SimplyAgree and DocuSign is a plus
