The legal team at Brighton Jones plays a crucial role in ensuring the firm operates with the highest ethical and legal standards. We provide guidance and support across various aspects of the business, including regulatory compliance, client agreements, vendor contracts, and corporate governance. We are a collaborative and supportive team that values proactive legal support. 

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and paralegal support to our legal team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with excellent communication and organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. This is an in-office position based in our Seattle headquarters.

Responsibilities:
    • Manage and maintain legal files, both electronic and physical, ensuring accurate and up-to-date record-keeping. 
    • Prepare and process legal documents, including correspondence, agreements and addendums, and regulatory filings, with accuracy and attention to detail. 
    • Assist with the preparation and organization of legal documents for review and execution; examples include facilitating DocuSign signature workflows, ensuring document completion, and reviewing contracts in accordance with applicable playbooks. 
    • Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory and corporate filings, including but not limited to annual reports and local business registrations. 
    • Manage bespoke projects (such as the implementation of a contract management solution)andcollaborate with applicable stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and adoption. 
    • Track deadlines and ensure timely completion of legal tasks. 
    • Assist with legal research and support for legal inquiries. 
    • Maintain and organize incoming records and documentation within the Company’s file management system (Box) to ensure accuracy and up-to-date recordkeeping. 
    • Assist with the preparation for audits and examinations including annual insurance renewals, by, for example, gathering documentation from different business stakeholders. 
    • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external parties under the direction of the legal team; manage follow-ups with stakeholders on projects. 
    • Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of clients and employees from a legal documentation perspective. 
    • Support the legal team with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed. 
Qualifications:
    • Associate's degree or paralegal certificate preferred;Bachelor's degree a plus. 
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably within the financial services industry (RIA experience is a significant advantage). 
    • Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and document management systems. 
    • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. 
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.    
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
    • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.    
    • Proactive and resourceful with a strong problem-solving aptitude. 
    • Familiarity with ERISA and securities regulations (a plus).

    • This is a full-time, non-exempt, in-office position with flexibility. 
Compensation:
    • Pay: $33.80 - $38.60 per hour. This full-time role is classified as non-exempt by the Fair Labor Standard Act, which means you are entitled to overtime pay for working more than 40 hours in a workweek (or more than 8 hours in one workday).

What to Expect in the Hiring Process

1. Values in Action Self-Assessment - At Brighton Jones we don’t just talk about our values, we live by them! We’ve operationalized our values into observable behaviors and part of the application process includes completing a brief self-assessment on our Values in Action. 

2. Initial Interview - This 30-min chat with a recruiter or hiring manager gives us a chance to learn about your background and goals and share more about the role and company. 

3. Role Alignment - Next you’ll meet with the hiring manager and a peer (virtual or in-person) to dive deeper into the role, responsibilities, and your transferrable experiences. 

4. Full Loop - You’ll meet the team in two, back-to-back interviews with team members you’re likely to work with. During these conversations, we’ll be listening to examples of your technical skills as well as how core values show up in your experience. There may also be a writing sample, role play, hiring, or technical assessment depending on the position. 

5. Personal Reference Calls - In this final step in the hiring process, you will be asked to arrange 1-2 personal reference calls with past managers of our choosing.
