Responsibilities
The role of the Portuguese Speaking Legal Underwriting Specialist is to underwrite new RTS Financial prospects and complete risk analysis and due diligence on existing customers. Qualified candidates must have fully fluent written, reading, and communication abilities in both English and Portuguese and be able to perform the following tasks, among others:
- Perform legal research on UCC filings, judgments, liens and tax obligations.
- File UCC-1 Financing Statements and amendments.
- Maintain quality standards and confidentiality on all projects and client and company matters.
- Analyze corporate documents such as bylaws, articles, and operating agreements.
- Complete risk analysis and full due diligence review on new prospects or current clients.
- Develop and implement processes to support document controls and safeguards.
- Develop working knowledge of various businesses operating in other countries, if applicable.
- Detect and resolve any issues involving account irregularities for current clients.
- Become a partner in developing strategies to achieve company growth.
- Work to keep all parties (leadership/sales/operations) apprised of progress and/or issues.
- With training, review agreements and revise as needed.
- Work well within a team atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of experience or 5+ years of equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Portuguese language is required
- Background in underwriting and/or analysis preferred
- Experience with corporate filings and UCC financing statements
- Ability to remain ethical and objective while exercising independent judgment
- Ability to work and learn independently and meet deadlines
- Detail-orieted and capable of effectively prioritizing multiple tasks
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to constantly changing priorities
- Paralegal certification is a plus
