Position Specific Summary
The Litigation Support Clerk position in the City of Tucson’s City Attorney’s Office provides daily support in the preparation of cases for all phases of misdemeanor prosecution in the Criminal Division. This position prepares paperwork and documents related to preparing cases for criminal prosecution.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Litigation Support Supervisor. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains case documents using the case management system by downloading and uploading reports and citations, setting appropriate tasks, reviewing and scanning minute entries, creating and assigning post court tasks, assigning prosecutors, judges, and defense attorneys, and linking associated cases. Submit orders for additional evidence and completes disclosure of evidence as requested. Runs prior arrest checks under City Court, National Crime Information Center, and the Motor Vehicle Department. Schedules officers and sends subpoenas for hearings.
- Notifies other staff and supervisors of rushed cases, cases requiring assignment, and new evidence or documents added to the case management system. Relays information to other staff members when cases are transferred from one courtroom to another. Communicates with outside agencies to retrieve any missing documents requested by defense counsel, the court, or prosecutors.
- Provides support and acts as a liaison between victims and witnesses throughout the court process by accompanying them to court proceedings, when necessary. Informs victims and witnesses of their legal rights under Federal and State law. Maintains case files and statistical reports of services provided to each victim and/or witness. Prepares and delivers case documents to victims and witnesses to advising and update on current or past cases.
- Provides input for creating, updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures. Assists with training of new or less experienced Litigation Support Clerks.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalentWork Experience: One (1) year of directly related experience.
License: Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License with two (2) years of licensed driving is required.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in data entry.
