Who you are:

  • The Legal Operations Manager is a key member of USHG’s Legal and Compliance team. This team member works directly with our restaurants, business leaders, and consulting businesses to ensure that legal and compliance matters are handled professionally and efficiently. The Legal Operations Manager assists our Legal and Compliance team in a diverse array of legal matters relating to employment, intellectual property, real estate, corporate governance, litigation, commercial contracts, and more. The Legal Operations Manager also helps to process insurance claims and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and best practices relating to health, food safety, and liquor licensing.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a 100%er! Consistently deliver a culture of Enlightened Hospitality to all USHG team members.
  • Help Us Resolve Disputes. Gather information and analyze data relating to disputes. Propose creative solutions that allow everyone at the table to leave happy. If litigation is at stake, work with counsel to track case progress and build and defend cases.
  • Keep Us Organized. Maintain our litigation tracker, real estate database, and safety and compliance business dashboards.
  • Keep Us Informed. Update business leaders regarding changes in the legal and regulatory landscape affecting our current and future businesses, proposing business changes that address new requirements when warranted.
  • Keep Us Connected. Coordinate, schedule, and participate in internal and external meetings that relate to our legal and compliance functions.
  • Analyze Trends. Analyze legal and insurance claim trends and work with our Legal and Compliance team to implement risk control measures accordingly.
  • Assist in the Contract Lifecycle. Facilitate information flow in contract negotiations. Interface with USHG personnel to determine the needs of our businesses so that they can be addressed in our contracts. Draft demand letters and termination notices. Manage the Legal and Compliance team’s digital databases, ensuring that contracts and other documents are appropriately categorized and filed.
  • Help with Corporate Housekeeping. Work with our Legal team to ensure that our businesses are appropriately formed and qualified to conduct business in accordance with applicable laws. Prepare materials relating to corporate governance, including amendments to operating agreements, DBA certificates, and more.
  • Maintain Licenses, Registrations, and Informational Displays. Obtain and maintain permits, licenses, and registrations (for example, liquor licenses and trademark registrations) and informational displays (for example, posters relating to health and safety), ensuring that we remain in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Manage Our Internal Insurance Function. Identify and report potential insurance claims to our insurance broker and carriers. Track open insurance claims from beginning to resolution, gathering information from USHG personnel when necessary and advocating for favorable outcomes. Lead the annual insurance policy renewal process in conjunction with our insurance broker by gathering the necessary information and facilitating decision-making.
  • Be Adaptable. Take on additional responsibilities and perform other duties as needed to support business objectives and operational success.

What we need from you:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound, pragmatic judgment and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to self-start, handle a fast-paced environment, and take ownership over workstreams.
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • 2+ years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, compliance, or operations role is a plus.

*The above represents the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
