Employment & Labor Senior Associate/Counsel


Location: Orange County, CA (Irvine OR Los Angeles) OR San Francisco, CA

Salary: $295,000-$360,000

Schedule: Onsite, 5 days a week

Description:

The firm is seeking a highly motivated, senior associate or counsel with six+ years of experience to join our nationally recognized Employment and Labor practice in either our San Francisco or Santa Monica office. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in counseling and defending both single-plaintiff employment cases and class and collective actions in wage and hour cases and class wide allegations of unfair employment practices. Responsibilities include counseling and advising employers in employment matters, taking and defending depositions, managing written discovery, drafting and arguing motions, drafting complex class and collective certification opposition briefs, and drafting employment agreements, separation agreements, position statements, employee handbooks, and other employment-related documents. 


Qualifications:

  • At least six or more years of experience with counseling and defending both (1) single-plaintiff employment cases and (2) class and collective actions in wage and hour cases and class wide allegations of unfair employment practices.
  • Experience counseling and advising employers in employment matters, including discipline/discharge, discrimination/harassment, restrictive covenants, ADA/FMLA compliance, and wage and hour issues. 
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, managing written discovery, and drafting and arguing motions.
  • Experience drafting complex class and collective certification opposition briefs. 
  • Experience drafting employment agreements, separation agreements, position statements, employee handbooks, and other employment-related documents. 
  • Strong legal research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, superior analytical skills, and the ability to manage client engagements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, can-do attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and assume a high degree of responsibility.

Pursuant to the California pay transparency laws, the Firm is posting a reasonable estimate of a compensation range for an Associate with six or more years of experience. At the time of posting, the estimated California range is $295,000 to $360,000. Actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including but not limited to the level of relevant experience, skill sets, training, licensure and certifications, internal equity, market data, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The range is based on a full-time work schedule.
