Position Reference: 01CLFCJ006-VID

Location: Deposition locations within 50 miles of New Orleans, Louisiana. On site, with remote depositions as ordered.
Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099), assignment based.
Compensation: $60.00 to $75.00 per hour, with a two-hour minimum for each proceeding.
Schedule: Video depositions are scheduled as needed. Each deposition generally lasts one to five hours. Central Time.
Agency Environment: United States Department of Justice, United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Louisiana.

Position Overview

CLFC Healthcare and Communications is competing for the grand jury and deposition court reporting contract for the United States Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Louisiana, and is selecting the legal videographer it will name as key personnel. The videographer we name is presented to the Government with a resume, and work begins on contract award. The first contract year is scheduled to begin December 15, 2026.

You produce the video record of federal depositions, working alongside a CLFC court reporter. On remote depositions you manage the live video stream and the recording while the reporter runs the proceeding.

The commitment is deliberately small. The Government estimates about 20 hours of video attendance in the first year, so this sits comfortably alongside your existing clients and puts a federal engagement on your record.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce an accurate video record of federal depositions.
  • Manage the live video stream and the recording on remote depositions, keeping the deponent in full view throughout.
  • Set up, test and operate professional video and audio equipment at each proceeding, with backup recording.
  • Work alongside the court reporter so that the video record and the transcript align.
  • Protect the confidentiality of all testimony, recordings and exhibits.
  • Maintain a documented chain of custody for recorded media and deliver it through secure channels.
  • Coordinate assignment claims and confirmations through the CLFC BRIDGE App.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional legal videography experience, with sole responsibility for capture, audio and delivery.
  • Your own professional video and audio recording equipment. The Government furnishes no equipment on this contract.
  • United States citizen or national, or lawful permanent resident seeking citizenship, with United States residency for at least three of the last five years, as the Department of Justice requires.
  • Ability to clear a Department of Justice background investigation where the assignment requires it.
  • Availability for depositions within 50 miles of New Orleans.
  • A current resume showing location, education, experience, training and any security clearance, which CLFC submits to the Government with its quote.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Legal Video Specialist (CLVS) or an equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience recording depositions for federal proceedings.
  • Experience streaming and recording remote depositions on video conferencing platforms.
  • Experience synchronizing video with a stenographic transcript.

Compensation and Engagement Details

  • $60.00 to $75.00 per hour, with a two-hour minimum for each proceeding. Where you land in the range reflects legal video experience and certification.
  • Independent contractor engagement (1099), paid within 30 days of your invoice.
  • Travel to deposition locations is reimbursed under the contract's travel terms.
  • The contract is planned as a base year beginning December 15, 2026, with four one-year option periods available to the Government.
  • Assignment claims and confirmations are managed through CLFC's BRIDGE App, so scheduling stays off your desk.
  • A named Program Manager from CLFC's Program Management Office is your single point of contact for scheduling, coordination and payment.
