The Role
As a Paralegal within our U.S. Legal Affairs team, you will provide critical legal support to the Legal Team and Business Units. You will be responsible for a broad range of legal and administrative tasks, including:
Key Responsibilities
Franchise
Prepare default notices and correspondence to franchisees
Draft Mutual Termination Agreements, Amendments, and related documents
Handle incoming risk management matters for franchise stores
Advise plaintiff’s attorneys on proper defendants
Prepare tender letters and maintain litigation logs
U.S. Corporate Entities
Prepare resolutions and merger documents
Coordinate filings and document requests from other departments
Manage Certificates of Good Standing, assumed name filings, and historical document requests
Prepare monthly reports for annual filings
Legal Tracker
Open and close legal matters
Investigate and resolve missing payments
Customer Complaints
Investigate and respond to Attorney General and state agency complaints
ADA Litigation
Retain outside counsel, request site investigations, and coordinate settlement checks
Maintain ADA litigation log
UCC Liens
Research vendor status, prepare notices, and coordinate payments/releases
Subpoenas
Gather information and respond to nationwide subpoenas
Marketing
Review sweepstakes rules and order bonds
Manage filings for state registrations and winner’s lists
Contracts
Review NDAs and contracts; escalate to attorney review as needed
Draft amendments and termination notices
Privacy Hotline
Review and triage privacy hotline messages
Other Duties
Assist with regional contracts and miscellaneous legal matters as needed
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in a corporate or franchise environment
Strong organizational and communication skills
Experience with litigation support, contract review, and corporate filings
Proficiency with legal management software (Legal Tracker, Laserfiche, etc.) is a plus
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
