Eastman’s Legal Department is seeking a highly skilled Senior Attorney with expertise in business law. You will report through the Legal Department’s Commercial practice group, which provides legal guidance on a variety of business matters, including contracting strategies for commodity-based and specialty-based businesses. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze legal risks, develop creative solutions, and foster strong relationships.

Responsibilities
• Contract Strategy: Develop and negotiate seller-side commercial contracts which appropriately balance risk with the optimal level of benefit to the internal client.
• Client Training: Present ongoing and focused training to pricing teams, sales teams, business leaders, and support functions on legal issues that matter to them, including competition law, negotiation strategies, proper communication methods, and contracts.
• Process Implementation: Act as an ambassador to business clients by rolling out, and providing training on, Legal Department processes.
• Supplemental Support: Provide supplemental support on an ad hoc basis for projects involving real estate, bankruptcy, M&A, tax/finance/accounting, distribution, and capital projects.

Qualifications
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Active member of at least one US state bar in good standing with ability to obtain membership in the in-house counsel Tennessee bar.
• 5+ years of legal practice, ideally with a combination of firm and in-house experience in the chemical, oil & gas, and/or manufacturing industries.
• Exceptional experience in a variety of matters, including commercial contracts, competition law, and transactions. Experience in complex engineering, procurement and construction contracts a plus.
• Highly effective, trusted, and respected thought partner to business clients.
• Ability to balance speed and accuracy within a multinational business environment.
• Strong sense of business ethics, compliance, and legitimacy in business dealings.
• Highly strategic and consequential thinker.
• Capable of leading without authority, in a spirit of collaboration.
