Job Description
You will serve as a Legal Assistant (Court) (OA) in the REGION LEGAL SERVICE OFC MID-ATLANTIC of Naval Legal Services Command (NLSC) .
Duties- You will prepare court reporting equipment (e.g., open-microphone systems and computers) for the use of recording oral testimony during court proceedings or hearings.
- You will assist trial judiciary with marking and taking custody of documentary and real evidence presented during trial or hearing.
- You will confirm required supplies and equipment are present in the courtroom or hearing room.
- You will, when required, arrange for delivery of certified mailing of the original record of trial or proceeding to convening or appointing authority.
- You will arrange for photographic reproduction of evidence not conducive to machine reproduction for insertion in the record of trial.
- You will compile records of trial according to law, regulations, and policies.
- You will verify and certify the completeness and accuracy of records of trial according to law, regulations, and policies and forward to the appropriate judicial official for verification.
- You will enter new files and records into an electronic database for tracking and record keeping purposes.
- You will maintain case files and records for case tracking systems and to provide status updates.
