Job Description

Position Summary

Performs a variety of complex criminal investigations for the District Attorney’s Office, including assisting and coordinating efforts with other law enforcement agencies and assisting in court and/or trial preparation and testimony.

What You Will Do


  • Direct supervision by Chief Investigator.
  • Maintains work records and case files and prepares reports, billings and other administrative documents.
  • Works with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in the coordination of case activities and their development for legal action. 
  • Works closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in locating, arresting and prosecuting fugitives. 
  • Functions as a liaison with location and outside agencies when conducting major investigations to ensure prosecutorial standards are met.
  • Networks with local and outside agencies. 
  • Locates and interviews victims and witnesses and records their statements. 
  • Interrogates suspects. 
  • Locates, collects and preserves evidence; arranges for technical analysis of evidence as appropriate.
  • Writes reports of investigations and confers with attorneys regarding cases. 
  • Testifies in court; advises prosecuting attorneys of facts likely to be presented in testimony. 
  • Photographs, video tapes and sketches crime scenes. 
  • Develops informants.
  • Analyzes network statements of persons suspected of white collar crimes. 
  • Performs convert, undercover and surveillance assignments. 
  • Performs community relations work.
  • Provides office security.
  • Serves subpoenas and summons.
  • Serves as course instructor. 
  • Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

What You Have


EDUCATION:

  • High School or GED equivalency required
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in criminal justice or equivalent experience preferred

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of one year law enforcement experience required

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
  • POST Certification CRS 16-2.5-104(1) required
  • Valid driver’s license at the time of application and a valid Colorado driver’s license at time of hire

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must successfully pass background check
