COUNSEL OPPORTUNITY
COUNSEL – eDiscovery & Information Governance
Redgrave LLP is seeking a Counsel with 5–10 years of experience leading eDiscovery workstreams in complex litigation and investigations. This role partners with clients and merits counsel to deliver practical, defensible discovery strategy at the intersection of eDiscovery, information governance, and data privacy.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will take ownership of discovery-focused workstreams, draft sophisticated written work product, and help teams execute efficient, defensible solutions. You will be client-facing and will collaborate directly with merits counsel, co-counsel, experts, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead eDiscovery and information-governance workstreams in complex litigation and investigations.
- Draft and review discovery and governance work product, including legal memoranda, correspondence, protective orders, ESI agreements, motions, playbook components, and defensibility memoranda.
- Prepare outlines and talking points for client meetings, custodian interviews, meet-and-confers, and motion hearings.
- Coordinate with merits counsel, co-counsel, and experts; support expert task/matter management and preparation for oral testimony as needed.
- Provide practical legal advice to Firm teams; monitor emerging law and support training/policy development.
- Coach and mentor junior team members; contribute to cohesive, high-performing teams.
- Support thought leadership and practice development initiatives; identify opportunities to expand client relationships.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active U.S. bar admission (additional admissions obtained as needed).
- 5–10 years of experience managing eDiscovery in complex litigation and investigations.
- Excellent legal writing and research skills; proven ability to draft complex discovery documents and memoranda.
- Strong project leadership and client-facing communication skills; comfort working directly with merits counsel and co-counsel.
- Technology-forward mindset and proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn and leverage litigation support tools.
- Willingness to travel as needed (including international travel depending on assignment).
Preferred
- Experience advising on information governance and/or data privacy issues in the litigation/investigation context.
- Experience developing defensibility positions or playbooks; participation in industry organizations and thought leadership.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to 10 pounds
- Frequently reaches and grasps with arms and hands; occasionally stoops and bends; must have manual dexterity
- Ability to closely examine and inspect materials
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Ability to travel as needed
- Frequently uses a keyboard to enter or transform words or data
- Work is generally performed in a remote office environment with an occasional requirement to work in a normal office environment
