Job Summary & Objectives

The Associate Director of IT Business Relationship Management (BRM) will serve as a strategic partner and primary interface between the Information Technology function and key professional functions and stakeholders.  In this capacity, the role is responsible for aligning technology initiative with Firm needs, advocating for stakeholder priorities within IT and ensuring that the firm’s technology investments are driving measurable business value. 

As a leader, this position manages and develops a team of BRMs, ensuring they understand core priorities, key processes, projects, technology solutions, and work closely with stakeholders for alignment and collaboration. Besides mentoring and setting clear objectives, the role also functions as a player-coach by understanding critical functions and leading by example.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Team Formation: Build the foundational elements of the IT Business Relationship Function
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and develop a team of Business Relationship Managers, by setting  clear goals, KPI’s/ OKR’s for the BRM team and proactively monitoring performance
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact between IT and assigned professional functions/stakeholders.  Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Firm to understand their business needs and priorities. Act as a trusted advisor and advocate for the stakeholders across the Firm.
  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure that IT initiatives and projects are aligned with the business goals and objectives. Collaborate with business units to develop and implement technology solutions that drive business value.
  • Project Portfolio Support: Understand the project portfolios of assigned professional functions and keep up to date on status to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the desired outcomes.  Partner with IT delivery teams to ensure scoped correctly, executed efficiently and aligned with firm expectations.   
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the IT department and professional functions. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between stakeholders and IT teams.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the implementation of IT projects. Work proactively to mitigate risks and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of IT solutions and projects to ensure they are delivering the expected benefits. Gather feedback from stakeholders and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the IT department. Identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services.
  • Client Satisfaction and Metrics: Track relationship health, service satisfaction and performance KPIs.  Use data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and optimize engagement models. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information technology, Business Administration or equivalent practical experience

Skills and Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in a business relationship role within IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of IT core processes including product lifecycle management, software development methodologies (e.g. agile, scrum) and project management
  • Bias toward action with a track record of driving initiatives from conception to completion. The ability to develop a vision but are also comfortable getting into the weeds and drive things as needed
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and managing complex IT products or systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of technical solutions
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts

Physical Demands (required to perform essential job functions)

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Sitting: Remaining in the seated position, particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally
  • Carrying: Transporting an object, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder
  • Pulling/Pushing: Using upper extremities to exert steady force upon an object so that the object moves toward or away from the force
  • Bending/Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine, or by bending legs at knees
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction

Work Environment

The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as in typical office or administrative work (normal light, air and space in the work environment)

Salary Information

NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $205,000 to $240,000 at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
