Purpose:
We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Medical Malpractice Attorney to join our growing legal team in Chicago. This role will involve representing clients in medical malpractice cases, from initial consultations through trial, to achieve the best possible outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing pre-suit operations, medical malpractice litigation, excellent negotiation skills, trying and winning medical malpractice cases, and the ability to provide high-quality legal representation. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the firm’s growth and enhancing our reputation as we expand our geographical reach.
This is an in-person position in Chicago. The compensation for this position is $150,000+, depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in medical malpractice litigation matters and, depending on experience, potentially nursing home litigation.
- Oversee the day-to-day handling of medical malpractice cases, including pre-suit processes.
- Oversee the legal process from initiation, discovery, and pre-trial motions to trial and post-trial activities.
- Draft and file litigation documents such as pleadings, discovery requests/responses, demands, motions, and legal memoranda.
- Guide clients through every step of the case process, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Engage with expert witnesses for consultations, report drafting, and the preparation of affidavits.
- Prepare for and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, court appearances and trial, representing clients in all stages of litigation.
- Negotiate favorable settlements for clients while managing and balancing risks and outcomes, maintaining a trial-ready posture for every case.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
- 3 to 7 years of medical malpractice experience. Nursing home experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage a large volume of cases leading to favorable outcomes, including having tried and won medical malpractice cases.

- Superior writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
- Familiarity with case management software and legal research tools.
