The Ohio Board of Nursing is seeking a qualified candidate for our available Attorney 4 position to assist in the Compliance Unit.
THIS POSITION SERVES IN THE UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE AS OUTLINED UNDER OHIO REVISED CODE (ORC) 124.11 (A)(9)
This position will work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance from the office for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.
This position will work under the direction/supervision of a Supervisng Attorney and will perform the following job duties:
- Assist in administering and implementing the Board of Nursing Adjudication program
- Review completed investigation reports to determine if sufficient evidence exists to propose disciplinary action
- Consult and confer with Supervising Attorney and/or Chief Legal Counsel and/or Board Supervising Member for Disciplinary Matters to determine course of action (e.g., Notice of Opportunity for Hearing, Consent Agreement or Examination Order, eligibility for alternative programs, close due to lack of evidence/no violation, etc.)
- Confer with Attorney General's Office (AGO) staff regarding agency position in settlement conferences/negotiations for post-notice Consent Agreements
- Draft Notices of Immediate and Automatic Suspension
- Ensure documentation of activity on cases in appropriate databases
- Cooperate with and act as legal liaison to Assistant Attorney General (AAG) on assigned cases at the appellate level and filing certified record in appeals cases
- Prepares exhibits and identifies evidence in cases in which no administrative hearing has been requested by the respondent (i.e., "no request cases")
- Assists with motions and orders during and after Board Meetings
