Job Description

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New Orleans Field Division, Baton Rouge District Office This position's primary purpose is to support the Field Division General Service Unit (GSU) Chief, providing overall planning and administration of programs, oversight and leadership to GSU in support of Division leadership.

Duties

As a Mission Support Specialist, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Performing administrative support services, to include Records Management, Privacy Act, official mail control, postal management, forms management, correspondence management, reports control, record keeping, etc.
  • Performing human resources liaison services support, such as preparing requests for personnel actions.
  • Managing division fleet services, including vehicles timely maintenance, service, repairs, supplement equipment, and documentation.
  • Responsible for the Division's personal property management, logistics, and inspections and internal controls functions.
  • Performing functions related to the Division Task Force Officer (TFO) program.

Salary
  • $59,966 - $94,317/year

Qualifications Applicants must meet the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of the announcement. Applicants applying for the GS-09 must meet one of the following requirements:

A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-07 grade level.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing administrative support functions to an office related to the operations of various programs, such as administrative, human resource liaison, internal control, logistics, fleet, personal property (accountable and non-accountable), supply management, quality assurance, records management, and Task Force management; 2) Assisting senior specialists in the preparation and processing of confidential employee matters; 3) Carrying out specified segments of specific projects (e.g., data collection and analysis, preparing reports, briefings, etc.); and, 4) Providing advice to staff and customers related to administrative support programs and its procedures.

B. Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR

C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Applicants applying for the GS-11 must meet one of the following requirements:

A. Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-09 grade level.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing administrative support functions to an office related to the operations of various programs, such as administrative, human resource liaison, internal control, logistics, fleet, personal property (accountable and non-accountable), supply management, quality assurance, records management, and Task Force management; 2) Assisting managers in the preparation and processing of confidential employee matters; 3) Carrying out specified segments of specific projects (e.g., data collection and analysis, preparing reports, briefings, etc.); 4) Identifying and recommending solutions to administrative problems; and, 5) Providing advice to staff and customers related to administrative support programs and its procedures.

B. Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related

OR

C. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
