GardaWorld Security Services is seeking a Litigation Counsel with experience in GL and auto claims for our growing legal team.
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented attorney to join our legal team and manage general liability and auto liability insurance claims and related litigation. As part of the in-house legal team, you will work for the Assistant General Counsel and with our Safety Director and Risk Manager to reduce our risk in these areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Claims Management:
- Oversee the management of general liability and auto liability insurance claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and insurance requirements.
- Work closely with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party adjusters to assess claims and negotiate settlements.
- Review and analyze incident reports, contracts, and insurance policies to determine coverage and liability.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide guidance on risk management and accident prevention strategies.
- Litigation Oversight:
- Manage and direct the defense of lawsuits related to general liability and auto liability claims, including evaluating claims, selecting outside counsel, and overseeing litigation strategy.
- Review and draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements.
- Represent the company in litigation, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Monitor the progress of litigation, ensuring that cases are handled efficiently and in alignment with the company's goals.
- Risk Assessment and Legal Guidance:
- Provide proactive legal advice and recommendations on insurance coverage, risk exposure, and potential liabilities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to insurance claims and risk management.
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including corporate, leadership, finance, compliance, and operations, to address legal and insurance issues.
- Report regularly to senior management and executives on the status of claims, litigation matters, and risk management efforts.
- Provide ongoing education and training to internal stakeholders on insurance-related claims and legal matters.
Salary: $95,000.00 / year, depending on experience and location.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active state bar membership and eligibility to practice law.
- Strong understanding of insurance policy terms, conditions, and exclusions related to general and auto liability, or ability to learn these under the AGC.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal issues clearly and concisely.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- High level of professionalism and integrity, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with claims management software and legal case management tools.
- Knowledge of personal injury law and relevant industry practices related to auto and general liability insurance.
