The incumbent will serve as the sole investigator on assigned cases. Responsible for planning, execution, and report writing. Conducts investigations using a broad range of techniques, legal analysis and written reports that reflect the highest professional standards.
Duties- Conducts complex investigations into allegations of misconduct against OIG employees.
- Analyzes legal and factual issues to identify applicable rules and standards, determine whether facts support allegations, and recommend courses of action.
- Drafts concise, comprehensive reports for OIG leadership.
- Reviews OIG policies and instructions to determine impact on OPR.
- $139,395 - $181,216/year

- Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment, and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.

Time in Grade:
You must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or equivalent or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 level in the federal service or equivalent level. Specialized experience is defined as: Independently planning and conducting complex investigations, analyzing evidence, and drafting legally supportable conclusions. Specialized experience can also include time as a legal advisor for complex criminal or administrative investigations and significant trial experience in criminal or administrative trials. In either case, the candidate's experience must include analyzing evidence for legal sufficiency and drafting documents that clearly, concisely, and logically present facts, analyses, and conclusions that are legally supported.
In addition to the basic qualifications, candidates must have at least five (5) years of specialized legal experience as an attorney in the fields of federal criminal, civil, or administrative law, which demonstrates that candidates can successfully perform the duties of a GS-0905-14/15 Attorney.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
