Job Description

The Regulatory Counsel will report to the Sr. Regulatory Counsel, supporting the Deputy GC and Chief Legal Officer, and provide legal support and advice on a wide variety of matters related to MRO Corporation (MRO) and its subsidiaries. This Counsel position requires an exceptional level of oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage third party disputes.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Providing guidance on laws, regulations, and regulatory developments applicable to the healthcare industry
  • Analyzing existing and newly enacted regulations as they relate to healthcare and privacy
  • Reviewing and drafting regulatory summaries with the ability to distill complex information into summary form applicable to the HIM industry
  • Driving awareness on privacy and security policies and regulations, including developing company-wide training
  • Assessing the urgency and prioritizing incoming disputes, researching and applying governing law, determining proper course of action to resolve
  • Drafting legal documents including memoranda, position papers, and responsive summaries to third parties
  • Assisting in a variety of other legal issues and projects to help the legal department

Education And Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree (JD) from accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law by the bar of at least one state
  • 3+ years of experience in a multi-client law firm, health insurer, hospital, or similar organization
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare law or litigation experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and able to work independently and as a part of a team to prioritize responsibilities, take initiative and self-motivate/self-manage work and time
