Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000, starting pay based on skills and experience.
The position is 100% in office and based in Greenwood, Colorado.
The company’s Staff Counsel position will be a member in the collaborative legal team that provides legal advice that supports the business objectives of the company while mitigating legal risks and ensuring compliance with title insurance industry regulations, applicable real estate laws, and the company’s ethics, values, and integrity.
Essential Functions:
- Performs work in support of the company's real estate escrow and closing settlement services and title insurance businesses.
- Provides advice in connection with title insurance products and policies.
- Provides advice in connection with title insurance underwriting processes and procedures.
- Assists in preparation and management of company document templates – standard terms and conditions, form documents and agreements, etc.
- Works as a business partner with the company’s operations to formulate and implement strategies consistent with corporate objectives and which minimize legal impact on the company.
- Manages, negotiates, and resolves real estate transaction related issues including curative tasks (pre- and post-closing) and the resolution of formal disputes, claims, and complaints.
- Works with outside counsel in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner, as necessary.
- Performs other work as assigned in support of company’s operational activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in Colorado.
- 5 - 7 years of experience with a top-tier law firm and/or an in-house legal department.
- 3 - 5 years of experience with real estate transactions and title related issues (commercial and residential).
- Strong understanding of real estate laws, regulations, and title industry customs and standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Google Forms.
Compensation:
- The salary for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 annually.
- As allowable under Colorado State Law, this position is exempt from overtime.
