Job Summary
This job works under the direction of the Director of Legal Affairs to provide legal support to Prisma Health.The Prisma Health Legal Department is seeking an experienced attorney who will primarily handle a variety of legal issues relating to the functions and operation of the Prisma Health Medical Group, one of the largest medical groups in the country and a critical component of the Prisma Health comprehensive integrated healthcare system. This position will focus on providing legal advice, counsel, and representation to the Medical Group on physician and other clinical provider contracting and related matters. The role will require deep knowledge of and proficiency with the application of the legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to employed and independent contractor physicians and providers, including compliance with Stark law, Anti-kickback statute, and other relevant state and federal laws and regulations. The position will also provide legal advice and counsel on matters related to Prisma Health’s clinically integrated network comprised of over 5,600 Prisma Health and independent community physicians.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide legal support and guidance to the Medical Group and Clinically Integrated Network teams.
Review and negotiate physician and advanced practice provider contracts to ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including physicians, executive leadership, and other legal professionals, to develop and implement effective physician and advanced practice provider contracting strategies.
Stay up-to-date on changes in healthcare laws and regulations and proactively identify potential legal risks for the organization.
Conduct legal research and provide recommendations to leadership on complex legal issues related to provider contracting.
Maintain accurate and organized records of all provider contracts and related legal documents.
Communicate complex legal concepts and requirements to clinical and other non-legal team members in a clear and understandable manner.
Serve as a subject matter expert on healthcare laws and regulations for the organization and provide training and education to other team members as needed.
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the provider contracting function.
Represent Prisma Health in legal proceedings related to provider contracts, when necessary.
Collaborate with external parties, such as outside legal counsel and government agencies, to resolve legal issues and ensure compliance.
Uphold ethical and legal standards in all aspects of the role, promoting a culture of integrity and compliance within the organization.

Minimum Requirements
Education/Licensure: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required and admission to practice law in South Carolina or another state or the District of Columbia with ability to obtain a limited certificate of admission for in-house counsel in South Carolina.
Experience: 2 years relevant experience.
