Minimum Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or public administration

-5+ years of senior level management

Preferred Qualifications\: 

-Graduate degree

-Previous State of Ohio human resources experience

 The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced HR leader to join our team as a Chief of Human Resources. This position is primarily in-person with flexibility for occasional remote work and may require travel and varied work hours. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is 30 E. Broad St. Columbus, Ohio.

The Chief of Human Resources will plan, direct, and oversee all activities and personnel of the Human Resources Division.

 Key responsibilities include:

-Defines goals & objectives as related to human resources (i.e., HR) & personnel (e.g., recruitment, classification/compensation, performance, payroll, benefits, training/development, selection, collective bargaining, EEO, employee relations)

-Formulates & sets agency HR policy

-Coordinates AGO efforts and communication with bargaining units on contract matters, personnel issues, and other issues as assigned.

-Serves as a lead resource on all personnel matters and helps to enforce federal, state and local work requirements, as well as AGO policies.

-Directs development of plans for all HR functions including the development of the HR budget

-Directs development of agency organizational structure & staffing patterns.

-Implements HR programs through complex decision processes involving

extensive research, coordination, & cooperation within department & with other departments.

-Meets with agency staff (e.g., Attorney General, COS, division chiefs, section

chiefs, directors, supervisors, direct reports) to advise on departmental

operations. 

-Represents agency on committees, boards, & commissions; performs other duties as assigned.
